It is critical that an individual who is honoured as an award winner, within reason, through her time and work, become an institution that is committed towards enriching South Africa’s literary heritage and sense of common belonging as a nation.
In line with this vision, the winner would be expected to partake in various literary and arts-related activities, particularly those that expose his work and those that help in improving the appreciation of literature among South Africans.
This would, in addition, infuse into the NEPAD, African Renaissance, Africa and its Diaspora’s agenda a great and long overdue dimension of literary heritage and the broad canvass on and from which future generations can stretch their imaginings and sip/draw inspirations
